The intent behind 6 Kings is, in part, to become the best possible version of yourself that you can be. To find your inner king and actually live as him. To fully realize your own sovereignty is to gain mastery over your own life.
Why the Vikings
We chose the path of the Viking for three reasons.
First, it is an honorable path of growth that puts the focus on the individual: how you show up in the world, what values you hold with conviction, what skills you have, and what you bring to the table.
Second, the spirituality. Norse practice was never meant to be a religion. Working with the Nine Realms and Yggdrasil is working with yourself, with God consciousness and with the universe. You build your own understanding of spirit, and you are free to bring in Christianity, Buddhism, Bahá’í or anything else that is true for you.
Third, roots. Many of us of European and Scandinavian descent can no longer sit with elders and learn the traditions of our past. Those people just don’t exist for us anymore. We are, in a real sense, indigenously homeless, and it is costing us. So we gather as much of the old knowledge as we can and reframe it for modern life.
What this is not
We want to be very clear: 6 Kings is not a cult, not a religion, and not a claim to be better than anyone. Hatred and racism have no place here.
How it started
I’m Christopher. In the brotherhood I go by Rune. On 2/22/22 I launched this work under the name VIKings: a personal mastery program using traditional Nordic practices, modern ideas and a real system of accountability to help men first understand themselves and then embody that understanding at their core.
My own path runs through the runes. Five years after my spiritual awakening on 4/20/2021, I began working through the Elder Futhark one rune at a time, week by week, on the intuitive path of the Vitki. Some weeks were fire. Some were ordeal. All of them taught me that a spoken oath is not something to take lightly.
The Personal Mastery Course is that work, made into something you can sit down with and do.
What we stand on
Rites of passage. Regaining wisdom. Individual spirituality. Honor and accountability. We put the individual first because without that there can be no real spirituality in community. Your individual difference and strength is what makes anything shared meaningful.
But people also crave something with real value and integrity to be part of. Institutional religion isn’t it for everyone. 6 Kings offers principles that ask you to think critically about your own actions, behaviors and beliefs, so you can carve your own code of honor without anyone telling you who you are supposed to be.
Peace is not just possible. It is at our fingertips. It requires action and will.
The Four Schools
Within 6 Kings we honor four traditional paths of Norse spiritual practice: the Vitki (magician), the Völva (seeress), the Seiðmenn (male practitioners of seiðr) and the Berserker (warrior-shaman). They are not ranks. They are different ways of being useful, and they run through the course.
